The deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 27th. You can request one in English or Spanish here: https://www.elections.ny.gov/votingabsentee.html

Once you receive your absentee ballot, you can mail it or drop it off in person.

If you’re mailing it:

Your absentee ballot needs to be postmarked by November 3rd, but the sooner you get it in the mail the better. If it arrives after November 10th, it won’t be counted.

If you’re dropping it off in person:

Dutchess voters can drop it at the Dutchess County Board of Elections anytime during business hours from now through November 3rd.

Putnam voters can drop it at the Putnam County Board of Elections anytime during business hours from now through November 3rd.

You can also drop it at any of your county’s in-person Early Voting locations from October 24th – November 1st or at any Election Day polling location on November 3rd.

FAQ

If you requested an absentee ballot, you can still vote early in-person or on Election Day instead.

Absentee ballots aren’t counted until a week after Election Day, so your in-person vote will essentially cancel out your absentee ballot. It is impossible to vote twice.

Your County Board of Election will contact you to give you an opportunity to fix your mistake, so your vote still gets counted.
