The deadline to request an absentee ballot electronically or by mail was October 27th. You can still request an absentee ballot by delivering it to your county's Board of Elections. You can request one in English or Spanish here: https://www.elections.ny.gov/votingabsentee.html

Once you receive your absentee ballot, you can mail it or drop it off in person.

If you’re mailing it:

Your absentee ballot needs to be postmarked by November 3rd, but the sooner you get it in the mail the better. If it arrives after November 10th, it won’t be counted.

If you’re dropping it off in person:

Dutchess voters can drop it off at the Dutchess County Board of Elections anytime during business hours from now through November 3rd. You can also drop it off at any Early Voting location.

Putnam voters can drop it off at the Putnam County Board of Elections anytime during business hours from now through November 3rd. You can also drop it at off at any polling location on November 3rd.

FAQ

do I do if the envelope was sealed shut or there was something wrong with the printed ballot when I received it?

Contact your county Board of Elections to request a new one.

If I requested an absentee ballot and decided that I want to vote in person, can I change my mind?

If you requested an absentee ballot, you can still vote early in-person or on Election Day instead.

If I already filled out and mailed/dropped off my absentee ballot, can I change my mind and vote in person?

Absentee ballots aren’t counted until a week after Election Day, so your in-person vote will essentially cancel out your absentee ballot. It is impossible to vote twice.

What happens if I make a mistake on my absentee ballot?

Your County Board of Election will contact you to give you an opportunity to fix your mistake, so your vote still gets counted.
