Karen Smythe knows the Hudson Valley. Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, Karen became the fourth-generation to run her family’s construction business, C.B. Strain & Son.
Karen understands the importance of good jobs that pay a living wage. Under Karen’s leadership, C.B. Strain employed hundreds of employees, and—as the company prospered—so did its workers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Karen is committed to building a stronger Hudson Valley. She has served as a Trustee of Vassar College and on the Boards of the Bardavon Theater and the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum. She’s also been a Sunday school teacher and a soccer coach.
Karen and her husband, Nevill, raised their own family right here in the Hudson Valley. Now, Karen will fight to ensure future generations have the same opportunity.
